Sihle Mooi- Co-Founder and Board Member
Sihle Mooi is a visionary leader and the CEO of Hotel Hope. Prior to his role at Hotel Hope, he co-founded Alexbiz, an organisation focused on leadership capacity building. This initiative was born out of his experience as the CEO of Rays Hope in Alex, where he witnessed a significant need for leadership development.

Sihle's personal journey has been marked by living in two contrasting and unequal worlds within South Africa. He views himself as a bridge-builder, aiming to bridge the gaps between these different worlds. Sihle firmly believes that every individual possesses inherent worth, dignity, and ability, and he is dedicated to recognising and realising these qualities in others.

Rick Ed- Deputy Chairperson
Rick Ed is a seasoned business consultant, mentor, advisor, and trainer with over 26 years of experience in entrepreneurship. During his time as the Principal and owner of Inscape Education Group, he grew the small training center with a handful of students into a national education institution. He sold the thriving business and now dedicates his life to mentoring, advising, and training can-do entrepreneurs and small business owners through DoBetter.Business.

Rick shares his experiences and expertise with enthusiastic start-ups and SMEs across Southern Africa, helping them to be more successful too. He has worked with clients such as Business Partners, Fetola, GIBS EDA, Enterpriseroom, Shanduka, Green Matter, Tony Elumelu Foundation, SAICA ED, and more. Rick's services include strategic guidance and advice for entrepreneurs and SMME owners to help them grow profitable and sustainable businesses, training in challenging aspects of business success, practical and relevant online short course modules on essential topics from marketing to money management, a collection of illustrated video presentations answering SMME’s current questions, a financial literacy game developer called Big Bucks, and fun learning personal finance playing Marabaraba.

Sally Mmowa - Board Member
Sally Mmowa is a dynamic individual with a diverse range of skills and experiences. Born in in the lively township of Alexandra, Sally completed her education at the National School of the Arts. She holds diplomas and certificates in various fields, including Travel and Tourism, Project Management, Labour Law Acts, Marketing, International Leadership, Coaching, and Basic IT.

With an entrepreneurial mindset, Sally has achieved success in both entrepreneurial and corporate marketing leadership roles. She excels in conceptualizing, planning, managing, and monitoring all aspects of key marketing and management disciplines. Sally is passionate about developing and managing strong brands that enhance long-term value for shareholders and retain customer loyalty. Her expertise includes brand creation, print/web collateral development, media relations, events, channel partner cultivation, digital and social media marketing.

Throughout her career, Sally has worked for esteemed companies such as Dimension Data, Virgin Mobile SA, MTN SP, Kael Worldwide Media, ATIO Corporation EMM Call Centre (Government), Top TV/Ichoice, insurance companies, and educational institutes. She has also been involved in organizing concerts for renowned international artists and has managed South African artists.

In addition to her professional endeavors, Sally is engaged in various ventures. She co-founded the NPO Ten Influential Gentlemen, which empowers boys and youth through education and entrepreneurial skills. She is also a co-founder of MoAfrika Borwa Legacy, a company specializing in construction, property development, interior decoration, architecture, ICT, and business consulting. Sally's commitment to upliftment extends to her involvement in the Iconic Hands Foundation, which focuses on empowering marginalized communities through arts, culture, fashion, education, and technology.

Furthermore, Nontobeko serves as the secretary for Alexbiz Board, showcasing her unwavering commitment to excellence in all her endeavors.

Pule Selepe- Board Member
Pule Selepe is a dynamic and skilled individual who loves working outdoors and interacting with people from all walks of life. He has a deep passion for achieving set targets, and he always strives to get the job done with high ethics and impeccable work skills. Even in difficult moments, Pule maintains a positive outlook on life, knowing that every challenge presents an opportunity to grow and find a solution.

He is a fast learner who works to find solutions, and he is constantly evolving himself to contribute to the various environments he finds himself in. With years of experience in entrepreneurship, Pule has successfully started and sold several businesses, including a brick manufacturing company that employed 40 staff members, a pallets and furniture manufacturing business that employed 30 people, and a telecommunications company that employed over 140 people. As a board member of the Shomang Sebendzani Development Initiative, Pule helped grow their workforce from 100 members to 1000 members, resulting in the first-ever marine life existence in Jokskei between east-gate mall to Kelvin. They also won the National Woman in Water Award 2012 amongst many other initiatives.

Pule is currently the Chairperson of Alexbiz Investment Fund, where he oversees investment activities and strategic decision-making. In addition to his role as Chairperson, Pule is a fundraiser, business analyst, and is working towards becoming a Financial Markets Fund Manager. His professional traits include fundraising, marketing, sales, negotiation (conflict resolution), online selling & management, Microsoft systems, project management, admin system management, quality control systems. On a social level, Pule is known as a self-starter and motivated individual, a great communicator, a team player, and he also enjoys playing golf and going to the gym.

Mandisa Makubu – Finance Consultant

Mandisa Makubu is a Chartered Accountant [CA(SA)], entrepreneur, and finance professional passionate about helping small businesses build strong financial foundations and access opportunities for growth. She is the founder of Ledger & Logic, an accounting practice that supports SMEs, social enterprises, nonprofit organisations, and township businesses with bookkeeping, management accounts, cash-flow reporting, compliance, and funding readiness.

Mandisa has experience across external audit, internal audit, financial accounting, and sustainability assurance. She has worked for Big Four professional services firms and supported multinational companies across sectors including manufacturing, logistics, infrastructure, education, hospitality and media. Her professional background enables her to combine strong technical knowledge with a practical understanding of the financial challenges faced by growing businesses.

As a Finance Consultant at Alexbiz, Mandisa supports initiatives that connect entrepreneurs with knowledge, networks, mentorship, and business opportunities. She is particularly passionate about making financial information simple and useful, helping business owners understand their numbers, strengthen their operations, and become better prepared for funding and sustainable growth.

Mandisa is also committed to youth development and community upliftment. She has volunteered her time to support and mentor young people, including teaching and encouraging accounting learners. Her long-term vision is to build empowering finance workplaces, develop young professionals, and expand access to quality financial support for township and rural businesses.

Shelly Ika – Director & Head of Finance

Shelly Ika is a passionate entrepreneur, business leader, and self-taught manufacturer. She is the Founder and Director of TK and NE Consulting Solutions, a financial wellness and credit-clearing company dedicated to helping individuals improve their financial well-being and achieve greater financial freedom.

She is also the Founder and Owner of Ocean Clean, a manufacturing business specialising in quality cleaning products.

As a Life Counsellor, Shelly is passionate about empowering and guiding people through personal and financial challenges. Driven by purpose, resilience, and a desire to make a positive impact, she is committed to building businesses, empowering others, and changing lives while inspiring people to grow, thrive, and reach their full potential.
